In Salesforce, user records cannot be deleted due to a variety of reasons related to system integrity and audit trail requirements. Instead, Salesforce provides an option to deactivate users which effectively removes their access to the system without permanently deleting their record.

There are several reasons why Salesforce does not allow user records to be deleted:

  1. Data integrity: User records are often tied to other records, such as opportunities, cases, or custom objects. Deleting a user record would cause inconsistencies in these related records.

  2. Audit trail: Salesforce is designed to maintain a complete audit trail of all data changes. If user records were deleted, it would be difficult to track who made changes to the data.

  3. Compliance: Many industries have strict regulations about data retention and auditing. Deleting user records could potentially violate these regulations.

  4. Collaboration: Salesforce is designed to be a collaborative platform where users work together on projects and share data. Deleting user records would remove important context and history from these collaborations.

Therefore, instead of deleting user records, Salesforce recommends deactivating them, which will remove the user's access to the system without permanently deleting their record. Deactivated users can also be reactivated if necessary.
